Union Dues for this Local Union are the minimum required by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Constitution. Dues are 2x the members hourly rate if the member's hourly rate or equivelent thereof is less than $11.00 per hour and 2.5x the members hourly rate if the member's hourly rate is $11.00 and above. Unlike most other Unions, there are no wage percentage charges therefore the a members dues are not affected when extra work or overtime is worked.
Members are required to pay Union Dues in any month in which the member earns wages from the Employer which is under contract with the Local Union. When a member is unemployed due to lay-off, termination, etc., and does not earn wages from bargaining unit employment,, the member is entiled to obtain a withdrawal card. TheWithdrawal Card will benefit you if you are off for one full calendar month or longer. The Withdrawal Card tells us that you are off work for a qualifying reason and tells us to stop charging you monthly union dues until you physically return to bargaining unit employment. There is no charge for a withdrawal card, however all dues and fees must be paid before a Withdrawal Card can be issued. You are eligible for a withdrawal card if you are laid-off, on military leave, retired, terminated from employment, quit, etc., for an entire calendar month or longer. You are not eligible for a withdrawal card if you are on vacation or ( pursuant to IBT Constitution Article XVIII Section 6(a) paragraph 2) on sick leave, Family Medical Leave, or worker’s compensation and retain reemployment rights with an employer party to a collective bargaining agreement. Let it be
noted that according to IBT Constitution Article II, Section 4(a), to be eligible to run for Office in a Local Union a member must be in continuous good standing in the Local Union for which he is seeking office for a period of twenty-four (24) consecutive months. Obtaining a “Withdrawal Card” will break this requirement.
Stop by the office and pick up a form or complete and print a form online here; print sign and mail to our office at PO Box 3652, Mansfield, OH 44907. It is your responsibility to obtain a Withdrawal Card so please take care of it as soon as possible after leaving the company, so that you will not be obligated to pay extra dues. Withdrawal cards will not be issued without a completed request form. Members who fail to obtain a withdrawal card within the first ninety (90) days of unemployment will be suspended in compliance with IBT Constitution ArticleXVIII, Section 6(h). and subject to back dues and a reinitiation fee of $180.00.
Members who are off work for an entire calendar month due to a non-work related illess or injury and therefore not eligible for a withdrawal card are entitled to apply for reduced Union dues under the Local Union's Medical Dues Rate Policy.
